Dr Reynolds received repeated requests for knowledge share on FOYSE Technology from industry leaders, academia, designers, teachers, and creatives. The Institute is a seamless extension of the company Zephlinear Ltd which was established October 2020 by Dr Reynolds as part of her research. Zephlinear is the name given to the first fabric surface created by FOYSE Technology introducing a 4th class of Textile. Seamlessly embedded within the Zephlinear family of brands TIOFT stands as a beacon of knowledge and excellence. The Institute is dedicated to pioneering this ground-breaking advancement through unparalleled research, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

FOYSE stands for Fibre on Yarn Surface Entanglement, and it is a disruptive new method of textile production that is set to redefine the industry's capabilities. By seamlessly entangling fibres on the surface of yarn, FOYSE achieves unparalleled strength, durability, and versatility in fabrics, taking textile performance to a whole new level.
FOYSE technology removes the limitation of three known methods of fabric construction. As a textile engineering innovation FOYSE deals with the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design and control aspects of fibre. FOYSE technology is a novel method of making which uses yarn to manufacture textiles without the interlacing (weaving) or interloping (knitting) processes.
Therefore, the process can manufacture textiles at 50% of the weight of comparable materials manufactured by its competitors. The incorporation of surface fibre entanglement is the inventive step within yarn manufactured textiles that provides potential fabrics with a high air content and exceptional acoustic properties.
Finally, the fibre entanglement features the layering process of construction provides an area for the seamless embedding of items such as sensors or non-hairy yarn and filament to create extra strong or reactive fabric surfaces. FOYSE provides a faster manufacturing process for sustainable solutions.
With more than 30 years’ experience within cross disciplinary design, Dr Reynolds combined her passion for next generation textiles, science, and entrepreneurship to undertake a PhD in textile innovation. After successfully graduating on December 12th, 2022, Dr Reynolds was able to dedicate time to craft the vision for TIOFT.
In support of her research Dr Reynolds set-up the company Zephlinear Ltd to share the new knowledge on textiles manufactured by FOYSE technology. The logical platform to meet the needs for Knowledge share specifically for the manufacturing process FOYSE Technology, was to establish The Institute of FOYSE Technology (TIOFT).

We aim to be a leading educational hub and think tank dedicated to advancing and promoting the utilisation of FOYSE Technology and FOYSE manufactured textiles. Our mission is to empower creators, designers, manufacturers, academics, and industry leaders by equipping them with the expertise and insights needed to harness the full potential of FOYSE Technology.

Dr Reynolds’ dedication and forward-thinking approach to textiles has won multiple awards.
